STHLM Xperience Conference is a participatory conference with lectures, practical tips, and workshops organised by Zington to celebrate World Usability Day. Every year the conference follows the theme set by World Usability Day Committee. In 2022 the topic was - Our Health.
Being a consultant includes working on multiple projects simultaneously, therefore I was working on SXC2022 at the same time as on the client’s project.I’m the lead designer for this project, I collaborated with other designers and conference organisers to create branding and conference materials that would reflect the year’s conference topic based on existing conference branding guidelines.
We started with brainstorming workshops, that helped us to decide what part of “Our Health” the conference should focus on and how we can translate it to design. We decided to focus on the mental health area, as we all agreed that is very important part of heath, especially for creatives.
Later on, as a team we collected different ideas into a moodboard, taking into consideration design from previous years, the topic and design trends. Finally the team selected 3 concepts to test. 1. Organic forms with pastel colors; 2. bright colors with soft 3D forms 3. 90’s neubrutalism. Together with other designers I continued exploring the concept and created different variants of digital and print materials.
In addition to standard required materials, I have been proactively suggesting creation of innovative materials that would increate interest in a conference and improve participants’ experience during the conference, such as animated social media content, use of AI, Figma community file for profile picture creation.
I love thinking outside the box!I
Throughout the project I continuously made workflow improvements, such as automatisation of the process for creating social media content in different formats in Figma with use of components and variants.
As a result of a few iterations, there were following materials ready for print:
As well as following digital materials:
SXC2022 was a success, with a record number of participants and very positive feedback. I believe that attractive design and activity on social media had a significant impact on attendance and engagement. Designs were highly shareable and effectively communicated the event’s theme, generating a great deal of interest and excitement among attendees. As of August 2023, the team and I are actively preparing for SXC2023.
